Rennes

Rennes is a vibrant city and Brittany’s administrative capital. From its medieval streets of the picture-perfect old town to the relaxing Thabor gardens and the impressive parliament building Rennes is a beautiful place to live.

Rennes has a population of around 216,815. In 1720 most of Old Rennes was burnt down when a fire ravaged the city.

The streets around Place Ste-Anne are lined with half timbered houses. Place des Lices was used for jousting years ago but now you will find yourself fighting your way through the crowds of the Saturday morning market.

The Palais du Parlement de Bretagne is one of Brittany’s finest buildings and ca be found at the east of the old town.

Created in the 1860’s the Thabor Gardens are a beautiful and relaxing place to visit. With 24 acres the public gardens include an English and French garden lawns, an aviary, children’s area and a botanical garden which holds 3,000 spaces of plant.

Don’t forget a visit to the Musee De Bretagne which recounts the wonderful history and culture of Brittany from prehistoric times.
